Heart is difficult
to describe, but you know it when you see it. Heart is the feelings
that guide you along the way. It’s a unique blend of caring
and passion. Heart is the will to do something and stirs the soul
so you will try. Leaders with heart give so much more than they
take. Heart has no gender, age or color. It has no limit
and makes no excuses. Heart can overcome all adversity and guide
you to success. Success ultimately makes the rules we must follow.
Heart driven success, though rare, is the ultimate. If you aim
for the heart first, you’ll always capture everything else that
matters. When you capture someone’s heart, the rest always
follows. Our words are the voice of our hearts. If a leader
touches the heart of a teammate it lives forever through them.
You know a great team when you see one. Whether it be in sports
or business they are easy to recognize. What you are really seeing
is a leader at work. Somebody understood the universal principals
we will be talking about in this book. Great teams are never built
by accident. The greatest of teams are in the dream business.
Once people focus on where they are headed what appears impossible becomes
probable. A leaders’ top responsibility is to help their
teams’ dreams become bigger than their fears. This is not reality
TV. If you ever let your team stare at where they are, that’s
the beginning of the end. Followers tell you what you want to
hear. A leader tells you what you need to hear.
Vision and leadership are indispensable to one another. Yet, at the
same time, what does it truly mean for vision to have leadership? Through
the insights and inspiration of this book, I hope to offer business
leaders the opportunity to sort through these types of questions and
seek the visionary leadership strategies which will positively impact
the heart of all who seek to change the world. As you build your
team you will learn to attract them to you, not your company, concept,
crusade or cause alone. Throughout this book I’ll be sharing
a few stories of the most precious asset I’ve ever known, the
people of our great team. They are the one thing I could never
replace.
“Beware what you set your
heart upon. For it surely shall be yours.”
—
Ralph Waldo Emerson
I believe that everyone is the keeper of a dream - and by tuning into
another’s secret hopes, we can become better friends and better
business partners. I have not cornered the market on leadership
or vision - however, as a leader; I continually seek to increase my
knowledge of visionary leadership, which I acquire every day.
I believe that a true leader is a man or woman who strives to allow
the invisible to become visible to his/her team. Yet at the same
time, vision is not the sole marking of a great leader - a leader is
one whose sole commitment is to invest in the lives of those who follow
them. Great success in business will make you more of what you
already are today as a person. These are the principles and steps
we’ve used to build and lead a great team in our business and
they will work in yours, too. |
